Between, by Jessica Warman

Between

Between

This cover is so magical.
The lonely girl on the swing, hiding her face (and her secrets) behind her hair.
The empty swings behind her speak to me of great losses.
Her feet partly hidden by clouds, make me think of a person who wants to flee from reality.
The wholeness of the cover tells me this story: a young woman, who has suffered great losses, is trying to escape reality by living in her imagination, but she is forced by the pain of her past and present to stay in the reality. The story in the book may of course be completely different.

A Natural History of The Romance Novel, by Pamela Regis

A Natural History of The Romance Novel

This cover is romance!
A young woman in a green gown, reading a book.
Dim bluish-green light surrounding her, like the round light from a candlelight.
In the "candlelight" a few clouds are shown - to me clouds represent dreaming, drifting away, relaxation, daydreaming.
The most of the cover is dark, which makes me think of secrets - and what is a romantic story without secrets?
The title and the author name are written with beautiful old writing Italic letters - this writing style has always been one of my favourites, because it makes me think of romance (and of fantasy/adventure, but that's another theme)

Emerald, by Karen Wallace

Emerald

This cover has a calm, soft glow to it. It is kept in the peaceful colours of green, blue and white. A little bit of red shown on the dress, almost hidden, speaks to me of secret passion, whether it be desire, anger or even revenge. The white dove symbolizes peace and/or innosense, but again, the red on the dress makes me think that all this peaceful outer is an illusion.

After Obsession, by Carrie Jones & Steven E. Wedel

After Obsession

The 'After Obsession' cover is dark and dangerous. The girl is completely lost, the darkness is swallowing her, slowly consuming her - or could it be that she is created from it? The colour of the title has some kind of sickness to it, mainly because of the rest of the cover (the colour alone could be used without making me think of 'evil sickness' lol
Even though this is a dark cover, then there's something calm about it, something peacefull in the darkness.

Storybound #1

Oh, wow!
This cover is amazing.
Normally I don't share a cover in my 'Books With Appealing Covers' blog unless it is a single novel or a completed book series (so I can share all the covers of the series in one post), but I just couldn't wait to share this one - I am completely blown away by its charm.
The warm earth colours, the mysterious lights, two children (and a pet) about to enter a door to another world through a tree that seems to have a life of its own... it speaks of nature, magic, adventure, life, fairytales.... it just has IT ALL. I could stare at this cover for hours and hours and still find new stories that could be awaiting behind that door.
The cover is a story itself - and this is what makes a cover extremely appealing; when you can create your own stories just by looking at it.

Changing My Wardrobe, by Deb Hanrahan

Changing My Wardrobe

This cover has a very strong effect on me; broken glass with a face in the reflection always has. It speaks to me of a broken identity and/or a broken mind.
This cover is light, but with a dark tone to it. The reason it has this effect, is because it is dark colours (dark blue, brown, grey, black), but it is the light shades of these dark colours that have been used. This gives the impression that though things may seem normal and good, then something dark and sad is hidden right underneath the surface.

Return To Sender

This cover is so warm and welcoming.
I feel an intense urge to follow the path and see what's on the other side of that garden gate.
Such beautiful inviting colours by the path - it reminds me of a secret garden of romance and adventure.
